I run 28 front 26 rear, had the same problem with tire wear before I lowered my tire pressure. I figured it'd be the same, but I couldn't verify myself. Follow the below link to see what a tire manufacturer (Dunlop) says about which spec to use (OEM sticker vs On-the-tire-max) -CP
: My car came with radials from the factory and the sticker reads tire pressures the same (24 front/26 rear)...You really can't go by this however; you must consider the size tire you are using(width)and the front to rear weight bias of your car. I run 30-32 up front and 26 in the rear with 235/60R-14s...If I run more than this in the rear, it eats the centers of the tires out really bad becausr the car is so light in back. Remember that most Mavericks came with skinny wheels & tires from the factory...
