The bar is longer (read wider) than a Maverick bar because the versailles/Monarch/Granada is a wider car with a wider track...The end-links will be angled instead of straight and will cause excessive wear on them as well as throw off the geometry.Plus it's a BITCH to install because it's the WRONG size. Addco and JC Whitney both sell a 7/8" sway bar that will fit perfectly. Don't skimp on handling; spend the extra $$ for the right parts and don't be a redneck...

: :Hi Charlie. I was planning to use the sway bar I took off of a Monarch. When I measured it (using an adjustable wrench to check the thickness, then measuring that with a tape measure)I came up with a 1" measurement. Since these two cars are pretty much the same thing, are there likely 2 size bars (that close in size to one another?) or has one of us misread our "precise instruments". (I need to know for ordering bushings) Thanks for your thoughtful considertion of this question. John B.

: : I use a 15/16" sway bar straight from a 1977 Versailles. It is not the exact shape, but will fit fine with a little elbow grease. The problem is that the mounting "flat" points are spaced slightly differently, but it still fits without interference or other problems. -CP

: : : : ...will it fit a 72 2door? I read that it would not elswhere on the board but it looks to be the correct shape. I have not measured it yet, but it is pretty beefy, looks to be almost the same size as the mustangs plus one on my 65 Stang. Happy April Fools everyone!
