On a car setting that long out in the woods, be sure to check the cowl vents for rust. Look down in then "slits" behind the hood and in front of the windshield....and also look where the fresh air vents are inside the car under the dash. This can be a very rusty area, and expensive area to fix.

: What you have there is a 1971 Maverick Grabber. As everyone has stated, I would buy the car....even as a parts car. Maybe if you are lucky....it will even be good enough to restore.

: The rear bumper has what appears to be "front" bumper guards held on with the wire you describe.

: Just make sure to look the car over thouroughly before you start restoration work.

: Keep us posted!!

: : I'm posting this message to ask for assistance from those of you who know far more about Mavericks than do I. I'm looking to purchase a Maverick, and I have found one that I am interested in. The only problem is that the owner doesn't know a thing about it, and I'm curious as to the car's true identity. I've posted some info about the car on my website, so if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could someone give it a look-see and tell me what you know about this car? Otherwise, I've included a 3/4 shot of the car, if anyone can tell me something from this shot. Thanks!
