: A 351M is a 400 block that has been destroked back to a 351 CI. There is a difference in block sizes. a 400 block or 351m is a 1 inch taller than a regular 351C I dont have the specs off hand. I also believe it is wider at the heads than a 351C. Heads and cams will swap. Cranks will not and niether will intake manifolds. The 351C is a way better motor.

the 351-400m is not as bad a motor as people say they are. A friend of mine built a 406 modified (.030 over 400) that runs 8.60's at the drag strip consistently. Hot rod recently did an article on the 400 and made 382 hp and 450+ lb-ft of torque with a two barrell carb and a stock-smooth idle! this is cool when sitting at a stoplight and someone thinks its a
stock 302 until you mash the loud pedal! I'd use a 400 any day over a 351c because they are cheap and plentiful.
