I thought about doing the same conversion in a Mustang. I thought that the 4.00 stroke of the 400 as opposed to the 3.00 stroke of the 302 would mean massive power. The problem is the the 400 doesn't rev to the same RPMs as the 302 or 351. The other problem is in the intake. Sure you can find HiPo intakes for the 400 but because it's less popular, it cost more; the same goes for other parts you'll need for the conversion. Also, consider clearence; the 400 is taller and, at least in a Mustang, you'd have to modify your hood for the larger machine. I'm not sayin' don't do it, after all, it's your car.
