According to Clifford Performance the preeminent guru's of all that is inline, the 200 is actaully a stronger engine because of:
1)Less stroke.
2)7 main bearings like the 250 and 260-300 truck motors. (144-170 has the old 4 main bearing design from the 60's Falcons and similar cars).

A 250 IS a stroked and bored 200. So Ford already beat you to it. I would go with a .060 overbore on a 250 with a holley 2 bbl. 280 cfm. But they are chokeless I think. Oh, and headers of course. The gains these engines pick up is pretty good from what I hear. You figure 150 hp to start. Headers and 2 barrel will get you 25% more hp. That's 187.5 hp. Go with a hotter cam. Better ignition. 9:1 or 10:1 comp. Gets you 210 hp. You go with an overbore, multi-carbs and head work then You could be looking at maybe 250+ horsepower. You might not think that is a whole lot but if you consider a 302 weighs 250 lbs more than a I-6 then you'll realize it doesn't require as much power to overcome it's own weight. Imagine how that affects handling too. No fish-tailing. No need for giant expensive tires. 205's will work great at 50$ per. 225/60/14 work really awesome at 60$ dollars per. Hope this helps.
