I really need to know more about your car to know what it would run. Are you going to run slicks? Area the gt40 heads the aluminum or the iron ones? Is it the Vic. Jr. Intake? What are your cam specs? ( Dur. @ .050 and lift, and lobe center) What is the cars weight? Have you gutted it at all (stock seats, heater core, etc.), what tranny are you using? Is there an after market stall converter? I figure that your car, on slicks, with traction bars, weighing 2700 lbs. should run low 13's to high 12's. with your heads it would not take you much to get into the mid 12's and beyond if you have not already, I recommend upgrading to a good set of roller rockers, you will feel the difference. the comp cam roller tipped ones are only $130 or so (compared to at least $300 for good full roller ones). with your motor, getting any kind of good ET is going to require slicks, if it is a street car you could get some of the BGF cheater slicks (the dot approved ones), or get some extra rims dedicated just for real slicks (you can run 10.5 W by 27 or 28" tires under your car but it is a VERY tight fit, and getting the rims with the right offset is a must. You also must get some traction bars, but the leaf springs are fine, I have seen many people go 9's on them no problem. Lastly, but most important, you must get a some for of roll cage, it only takes getting loose and upside down at the 110mph + trap speeds that you will be running to rune your weekend. And when you get the cage, get some sub frame connectors made, they help a lot with the maverick/comets real bad chassis flex.
Hope I have answered your question

: I can't help you there, but I see you are using an 8.8? Have you already converted? Did you change to coil or keep the leafs? I have been curious about this swap for some time.. -CP

: : i have a 72 maverick. i am putting in a 351W with GT-40 heads, long tubes, no h-pipe, no cats, mufflers, pipes out under the side doors, edelbrock intake, holley 850 doulbe pumper, comp cam, c4 tranny, and 456 gears in a 8.8 rear. can anyone guess what i shall be running?
