In Reply to: What will it take to pull my dash out? Changing the color of the interior. posted by Mike on March 19, 2000 at 19:41:50:

I did this already on my mav and now I'm gonna have to do it again because I'm apparently retarded and didn't rough it up enough and the paint in one spot came off in a huge chunk. My recomendations would be to take the instrament panel off and stuff the hole with newspaper and mask off the column really well. I took my package tray off but I guess that doesn't matter since you have a glove box. Dont put the maverick embelem back on for a least a day. I put mine on too early and now the paint is cracking around it. From what I understand I think in order to get the dash all the way off you have to take out the windshield. Also make sure that you do it when it is 75-80 degrees minimum. Really bad shit happens to paint below that temp. Also take out the ash tray and paint it seperately so that you don't have unsightly lines of unpainted spots on the sides. If you are going to paint the dash pad as well You can get that off when you take off the instrament panel. I suggest using Dupli Color Vinal Paint, It's awesome.
