I had my orignal 6-cyl alternator rebuilt and "beefed up" by a local rebuilder. They can play around with all kinds of things if you request (and if they know what they are doing). My car would always dim the lights badly at idle before and I told the rebuilders my specific complaint and now it's over 14V at idle, actually lessens at higher RPMs to about 13.75. -CP
: Thanks Mavman. I just wondered because I'm using the 'race' underdrive pulleys and I was told that the newer style internally regulated alternators charge a lot better at idle which would help with my pulleys.
