:might be one of two things, first the trans filter is plugged up and you're not getting enough fluid to it. (might be) second; the bands and clutches are history, change the filter and look in the bottom of the pan for material, if some in then, have the trans rebuilt, sometimes you can do a swap across but then you loose the orginal factory numbers.
Old trans being raced a little now, probably needs to be rebuilt.
Hi all!
: JUST got the inspection sticker, tires and rims for my '76 Mav, looking good! And finally street legal to boot! Anyways, I'm having a very annoying problem with the transmission.
: When I'm doing about 30 miles an hour (+-10 mph) and give it more gas the transmission seems to "slip", the engine builds up speed and eventually the tranmission "catches up" to the new throttle setting. This is a C4 Automatic transmission. I've checked the fluid level and its right on the money. The books I have show how to do a reverse and intermediate band adjustment. Why? What does the adjustment do? They never say WHY you'd want to do it, just how. I wonder if these adjustments would help me with the problem.
: Any advice would be appreciated!

: P.S. I hate working on Transmissions or air conditioners, everything else is fair game for this shadetree mechanic ;^)
