...I have used a floorjack under the front crossmember fro years with no problems. That mother is pretty stout. The best place for the jack stands is the flat areas just under the firewall corners. They a reinforced & can easily handle the weight;-)

I know when I used to change my oil in my '70 Maverick back in 1974, I used auto ramps to get under the car. Now I have a '76 and wanted to get under it and put jack stands under the car. Knowing that there are specific jacking pionts on the body of the car, I wanted to ask if you can lift the front end with a floor jack at the cross member located under the damper pulley without messing up the unibody.
