You must have all the linkage including the shift rod in the transmission...The only difference between the Mustang shifter and the Maverick/Pinto unit is that the Mustang unit is curved and the Maverick/Pinto unit is straight...This does not affect operation though...
: Dosent the floror shifter push the linkage in the opposite direction? On a column shifter the linkage when youn shift to low is pushing toward the back of the car. On a floor shifter, low would push the linkage towards the front. You would have to change the shift rod in the transmission because one would route the linkage above the shift rod & the other below. I havent done the conversion so I dont know but it seems logical.
