:yes then is 351W headers available, as far as the difficulty in changing sparkpulgs, I don't think so. Not as easy as a 6 banger, but not that hard, just have to be smarter then what you're working with.
go to the disc brakes up front, drums suck and disc works much better, keep them of the manual type and don't let someone talk you into power brakes. If weight is a problem just put a fiberglass hood on,
it's not nessecarily the more weight it where and how it's positioned.
6 banger it a narrow up front weight, V-8 it's toward the sides and more toward the firewall. makes a big difference. and besides, headers are lighter and most of the time Ford used the same springs on 6 nd V-8s. If they're old and weak change them, otherwise put the V-8 in and remeasure your bumper height from the 6 Banger.
aluminum intake -20lbs.
In considering my engine swap, is there a tube type header that I can use with a 351W that will fit in my 73 four door without chopping the shock towers?
: Weight:
: From http/triumph.cs.utah.edu/tech/engine.html I have found the following:
: FORD 170-250 weight = 385 pounds (what I have now)
: 289-302 weight = 460 pounds (+75)
: 352 Windsor weight = 510 pounds (+125pounds)
: Not to mention the extra weight in the cooling system, I'll bet I could use new springs.
: Any suggestions?
: Can I get away with the drum brakes? Does anybody make good metalic shoes like those that LAKEWOOD made in the 70's.
: Thanks
