: Ok I did a complete Barry Grant overhaul on my Holley 650. Man did she come to life Here is the car Maverick 73, original 302, 11 1/2:1 compression, 30 over, milled and ported heads, cam 294 with 554/558 lift, race rebuilt c4 and 4.56 rear end gears). The problem is she wont idle at all...use to hardly idle but it did before the rebuilt carb. The fuel is right at the bottom of the sight windows and I have the mixture screws backed out out 1 1/2 turns. Any help on tuning the carb to run better and to idle would help.

: Thanks for any info

You will want to make sure that the idle screw (not the idle mixture screw), is backed out far enough to allow the idle circuit to function. How fast is your idle? Are you having to set the idle speed very high? If the throttle plates are to far open the vacumn will not be high enough to suck fuel through the idle circuit. Are your butterfly shafts tight? If they are worn very badly it can affect the idle. There are other things like a warped metering plate that now won't seal because the new gasket isn't stuck like glue. But I would bet that it is the idle adjustment. Hope any of this helps!
