ok, how about this? '65-'66 econolines came w/240 engines as an opton, as well as 170/200 engines. ever looked in those engine compartments? not too roomy even with the 170/200, but the point is the 240 goes right in place of one!(BTW, 240's are the same externally as a 300)so i think a 300 in a maverick is a dandy swap idea. check out the early '70's hot rod mags for articles on the h/gas "preparation h" maverick w/ a weber carbed 300 six! it was an honest 11 second car back then and not too radical either!
