I realize the 302 is better for horsepower given the ratio of bore to stroke is bigger. That is the precise reason I want the 300 in my Maverick. Imagine an industrial grade engine that puts out huge torque at low rpms. Rock-solid reliability! It is perfect for a 2.89 rear-end and combined with an 5 speed or an AOD I would get exceptional gas mileage and performance. I could easily put on a dual header and an intake. A high torque cam(i.e. RV cam) would liven things up great without worrying about mileage too much. Weld up a class 3 trailor hitch and you can go anywhere. All in all torque is my main goal, and a 300 will out muscle a 302 any time of the day. Tell me what you think.
