Well, it's been a while since my last post complaining about not getting my engine to fire. I'd like to thank everyone who replied with suggestions. Unfortunatly, short of God, I don't think anyone would have thought about the actual problem. The culprit was the Accel 300+ ignition system. When I hooked the system up, I wired the hot wire to the same spot on the fuse block the original brain box was wired. Only after hours of testing did I find out that when the engine is cranking, no power is supplied to that point. The other problem was that the 300+ WILL NOT FIRE if the battery is under 11.5 volts. The engine will turn over, but, the ignition system will only fire on the first and last revolution. Not even Accel could tell me that.
So, as you guys and gals may (or may not) have guessed, I finally have the Mav back on the road (only took one year, three months and sixteen days). Feels GRRRRREEEAAAT to have her back on the road. Still in the break in period though (have another 350 miles to go). Damn hard to keep the foot out of her, she WANTS to RUN!!!
Here's what I have:
1969 302 bored .060 over
Sterling 9.5:1 hyperutectic pistons
1987 5.0 heads, (exhaust port emissions bump did a disappering act thanks to a Dremel tool), milled .030
Crane 1.6:1 roller rockers
Accel 300+ ignition system w/Accel 8.8mm wires
E-brock Performer RPM intake
Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary
Holley Blue electric fuel pump
E-brock Performer RPM cam (@.050 lift): 224 int/234 ex duration, .492 in/.520 ex lift
Heddman Headers
B&M 2800 RPM stall
Still to do:
3.55 gears (2.79's really SUCK)
Install Heddman universal x-pipe and Flowtech Afterburners (header mufflers really SUCK!)
The body work and paint (two colors of primer and two colors of paint is really UGLY)
