Actually I am not using an original BOSS block. I am thinking of two possibilities, either an SVO block or a "MEX" 302 with Milodon 4 bolt splayed main cap conversion. The Milodon caps are made from forged steel so they should be strong enough. I am also going to use a steel main cap girdle for extra reliability. I have yet to find the SVO block, so I may go with the "MEX" instead. Unless you know where I can find an SVO block?
The only thing "true" BOSS I will be using are the 69 casting heads. I will be using a forged steel 3.25 crank, Probe forged steel rods, gear drive(Silent type), Comp cams roller cam conversion with solid roller lifters, Comp cams aluminum roller rockers, SVO pushrods, triple valve springs, titanium retainers, 10 degree steel locks, aluminum rocker stud girdle, C&A gapless rings, full floating piston pins(this is the plan), Hooker Super Comp headers. A few things I am unsure of using because I am having trouble finding them, these things are: Titanium valves (2.23-2.25 intake, 1.75 exhaust depending on fitment), 8:1 comp. pistons, an aluminum single plane intake (I can't afford a custom sheet metal intake).
SO as you can see, my plan is to have the BOSS appearance while having superior performance.
