: A word of thanks to everybody that answered my questions about 351 in Maverick, headers, fiberglass hood, and so on. I just finished up the engine compartment for the 351. Cut the Spring towers, lowered the engine and made my own motor mounts and in the process moved the engine back to 1 inch from the firewall. Spring towers were a piece of cake, any average guy with a few cut off wheels or a plasma cutter can do it, just don't get carried away and take your time and its really simple. The car was already equipped with a 9 inch with spool and 33 spline axles, fuel cell, 6 point bar and harness, Cal Tracs, and I got to keep the C-4 and convertor and drive shaft. It already had a 347 in it when I purchased it, but the owner wanted to keep the motor. Tubular Automotive does make a set of headers for the maverick, Summit also makes a header that will work with a little adjustment on the the 7 and 8 tubes. I had borrowed a set of 1 5/8 tube headers to see if we could get them to fit and when I found out they could be made to work I ordered a set from Summit G9031 is the number, it does not show for a 351 just a 302, but they come real close, and for $80.00, didn't think I could go wrong. They came in with 1 1/2 tube and I sent them back, would probably work out good on a street car. You must modify the spring towers to get them to work but they will with a little modification. The right side is a nice fit, might have to ding a tube a little but not anything major. I have someone that is going to build a set of headers on the car for a decent price and they will be close to equal length, the ones you buy are probably off by 8 to 15 inches, but they will work. I have a cowl induction fiberglass hood that came with the car that I am going to sell, any takers? Previous owner paid over $400.00 for it, and its in nice condition and its white. I'll take $250.00 . I need a front grille emblem, and I understand that they are hard to come by, and I need a side marker lens left rear, just lens, I've got all the rest. I installed 15X10 weld wheels with 5 1/2 back space, had to massage the wheel well a little but not much. 9X30 slicks, had to straigthen out the front of the wheel well at lower front, pretty simple to do just take your time. Used a portapower to spread the well out and the tires and wheels fit perfect. I don't know it you can post pics on this site put when I get it back from having the headers made I'll try and post some pics before I instell the motor so people can see the spring towers and the motor mounts that I made. Also since it was a 70 model it still had the 4 bolt hubs, I sold the tires and wheels that were on it and used a set of hubs off a 66 Fairlane (5 lug), and they bolted up like factory, I redrilled the front drums and Presto!! It looks like it was made for 15 in tires and wheels. Sorry to make this so long winded but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that answered my questions and that I now have a Mave
