The AOD doesn't use a downshift rod as the C-4s,6s do. It uses a cable or rod that looks the same only it provides the trans a Throttle position so it can select the gear from that info. It controls the flow pressure thru the valve body. You have to have one or the trans won't work right. Not hard to get one. I use the rod and downshift linkage on a 650 Holley.


: this is the first time ever in my life that have been messing around with an AOD, so i don't understand what you guys say by the TV cable. please give me some input because i want to get my car on the road this week. thanks for the ideas and i will have to check this out.
