I had this exact same problem on a 72 Grabber. You have a hot wire touching the body of the car somewhere.

Places I have found shorts:

-Rear Bumper was pushed into the body of the car, pinching the license plate wire against the car causing a short.

-Above the driver's rear fender. Somebody had drilled holes and put pop rivits in to hold in the metal to cover up the rust. When this somebody did this, they drilled right thru the wiring harness, causing a short to be found later. this somebody was me.

Hope this helps.

: My '71 Mav is driving me nuts! I am trying to repair the turn signals and 4 ways; the guy I bought it from must have really jazzed it up! When I got the car it had no turn signals, just the grabber grill lights. It looks like the guy tried to wire them as turn signals in the front. I got new turn signals, wired them correctly and the wired the driving lights to the side marker hot lead.

: Now what happens is..all lights work when parking light activated. No turn signals work. The turn signal wires in front and rear are not hot when the turn signals are applied. There is power to the fuse and flashers. No 4 way hazzards work.

: When brake lights are applied, the rear brake lights come on, THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS IN FRONT get brighter , the side marker lights in the front fenders go OFF, and both turn signal indicators on the dash come on.

: So far I can't see what he did!

: Would it be easier to get a new wiring harness and redo everything or is there someone out there who can point me in the right direction?!?
