I have an inline 6 so I don't know as muchabout v-8's as these other guys, but I can say a few things.

The limit for pushrod engines is about 7200 rpm. Past that they don't go that well. With that established we know that you will not be revving this high. At top end a 750 would be reccomended so you figure 600-650 cfm would quite enough for an intake like a performer rpm since your heads will be contricting the airflow. The biggest mistake of most people make is running way too much carb. Having you ever considered a triple-duece setup? You can get Holley carbs that are 360CFM 2V and even less.
