: : I guy I know offered to sell me his old 302 that needs to be rebuilt for $75.00 I know it will run well and my father is a mechanic so he will help me, but I dont know if I want to get rid of the ol 200. My current 200 runs great, its a Cake walk to work on, the body and engine number match and it only has 50,000 miles. It doesn't burn ANY oil, from change to change I dont have to add any extra oil. But the 200 is slow, it tops out about 95 and sucks a little out of the hole. The 302 is faster and to my understanding, gets about the same milage. What would everyone else do? Is it worth it? How much would all the parts that I would need to make the swap cost (motor mounts, ect.)
Dont do it! been there done that!.Finding parts like motor mounts, radaitor, front springs, differentrearend, and springs, crossmemberunder motor.200 bellhousing on tranny wont fit so add a tranny to a long list of time consuming hard to get parts.find a maverick with 302 and build on it .Its taken my 16 months and it isnt fired up yet.
